A Dope Soul

Dear World Changer,

Came across this pic the other day, and God just spoke to me!

“Dope soul” is my personal fav! Mind you, in this 2017 it’s probably more like “lit soul!” That being said, and in the words of Judah Smith: How’s your soul?

I was reading 1 Timothy this week and couldn’t seem to shake this “…TRAIN yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come” – 1 Timothy 4:7b-8

I don’t know about you, but when I first read the word “train” my mind immediately went to working out, running a race etc. That’s what makes sense right? None of those come easy, and with training they get easier and attainable. However, question for you: did you ever think that your spiritual life (your soul) needed training too? Let’s be real, nobody but Jesus was just born with a dope soul!

In a society consumed with the latest sneaks, the healthiest options, and gaining that muscle, don’t forget that your soul needs some training too. (I say this to myself included. We’re human!) It’s so easy to get both upset and frustrated when we aren’t where we want to be spiritually or when we walk through “dry” seasons and let our walk with God slide. That’s where the good old word TRAIN comes in. Preachers don’t just get up on a Sunday without the preparation, without the constant diving into God’s word that IS alive and relevant today. They train – in the spiritual sense.

So, have you checked in on your soul lately? Are you lacking in spiritual muscle? Maybe it’s time to start some training. To get your prayer warrior on, to challenge your Bible reading, to listen for HIS voice in the daily. Training for godliness will not only impact this world, but far outlive it. Remember that we aren’t called to be perfect, but we are to care for what God’s given us – that being both body and spirit.

Go strive for that dope soul! #GetIt

Jenn
